Koh Phi Phi is a breathtaking island paradise in Thailand, famous for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and crystal-clear waters. If you find yourself with just 24 hours to explore, here’s how to make the most of your time, ensuring you experience the best this magical place has to offer.

Evening Before: Arriving in Koh Phi Phi

To maximize your adventure, arrive in Koh Phi Phi the evening before your tour. This gives you the chance to unwind and soak in the island’s atmosphere. Stroll along the beach, enjoy a sunset cocktail, or explore the bustling markets. It also means that you have the opportunity to take part in the early bird tour direct from phi phi.

Don’t know how to get to Koh Phi Phi just put in your starting destination below and you can easily buy a transfer to the island.

Early Morning: Join an Early Bird Tour

Start your day bright and early! Book an early bird day tour that departs from Koh Phi Phi. This is the best way to beat the crowds and enjoy the stunning sights before they get too busy. Make sure to check if Maya Bay is open, as it often has seasonal closures. The Tour starts at 6am and leaves direct from Koh Phi Phi. I would highly recommend you take part in this early bird tour as 3000 people are on Maya Bay at a time if you join a tour starting later in the day.

Look for a tour that suits your timings below.

Tour Highlights

Your day tour will typically include several iconic spots:

Maya Bay

Famous from the movie “The Bay,” this stunning bay is known for its crystal-clear waters and dramatic limestone cliffs. Sunbathe, Take in the incredible views and spend some time watching the baby reef sharks swimming in the shallow waters. Unfortunately visitors are unable to swim at Maya bay as they were polluting the waters too much. However, this has given the marine life a chance to thrive as evident with the reef sharks now calling the bay home.

Phi Phi Leh

Explore this smaller island that offers picturesque snorkeling spots. The vibrant marine life is perfect for underwater photography. If visibility is high you will most likely be given the chance to snorkel around this smaller island. If you’re lucky you may even spot some larger reef sharks around you (Don’t worry there harmless).

Bamboo Island

A beautiful, sandy island perfect for relaxing. Enjoy some beach time and maybe a quick swim. if you do the full day tour you will most likely enjoy a local lunch on this island. Make sure to keep an eye out for the monitor lizards that call this island home.

Viking Cave

The Viking Cave is a natural limestone cave located on the northeastern coast of Phi Phi Leh. Previously visitors could enter the cave and admire the ancient wall paintings. However, the cave is no longer accessible to protect the paintings aswell as the swift birds and their nests inside the cave. You will however, get the chance to admire the cave from the boat and be told details about how the nests of these birds are collected to make an Asia delicacy, bird nest soup.

Monkey Beach

Experience monkeys up close on this beautiful stretch of beach. Here you can watch them play, sleep and just hang out in trees. Make sure to leave your valuables on the boat though as these cheeky guys are known to try and steal your belongings. Also make sure to not try and touch the monkeys as after all they are wild animals and have been known to bite people when they feel threatened.

Evening: Relax or Party?

The joy of the early bird tour means you get to enjoy another evening on the island so how are you going to spend it? Are you going to enjoy a nice dinner and a cocktail while you watch the sunset or are you going to find a bar on the beach and dance the night away.

Breakfast

For breakfast grab a quick and convenient toastie from 7 Eleven. These tasty Thai sandwiches will provide you with the much needed energy to start your day. Especially if you grab some fresh fruit from the market stalls aswell.

Lunch

Lunch is typically provided as part of your tour, featuring delicious local dishes. Enjoy a meal while surrounded by stunning scenery, making it a memorable experience.

Dinner

After a full day of exploration, you’ll want to unwind with a good dinner. While none of the dining spots stood out as exceptional, there are plenty of options to satisfy your cravings. Try a local Thai restaurant or a beachside bar for a casual vibe.

Something Sweet

If you’re in the mood for something sweet, don’t miss out on the lovely donut shop in the middle of the island. Their freshly made donuts are a delightful treat to end your day! My favourite was the simple sugar strand but Sister Donut offers a whole range made fresh each day.

Koh Phi Phi is a paradise that can be explored in just 24 hours, but the memories will last a lifetime. With the right planning, you can enjoy stunning sights, delicious food, and the warm hospitality of the island. Make sure to check the seasonal availability of attractions, and embrace every moment in this tropical haven!
