Two weeks in Bali is the perfect amount of time to explore the diverse landscapes and vibrant culture of this Indonesian paradise, in this guide we will discuss where to go, how long to stay there and what to do when you are there. You will also find links to more detailed posts for the individual areas to make sure that you get the most out of your holiday.
I have also included places to stay in each destination and while none of these recommendations are sponsored I may earn a small commission if you choose to book through the links at no extra cost to you.
Uluwatu
Starting off your trip in Uluwatu, spend three nights in this beautiful coastal area. Uluwatu is known for its stunning beaches and iconic Uluwatu Temple, which sits on a cliffs edge overlooking the Indian Ocean. Keep in mind that the temple is also home to a mischievous monkey population, so be mindful of your belongings!
While in Uluwatu, be sure to visit the nearby Blue Point Beach, Suluban Beach, Padang Padang Beach, or Dreamland Beach. Each beach offers its own unique charm and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming or catching some waves if you’re into surfing.

Where to Stay
When deciding where to stay in Uluwatu there are plenty of options from basic hostels to all inclusive luxury hotels. I chose to stay at Ancala Uluwatu a beautiful homestay on a hill top with a private pool and view of the jungle and sea below. I found these rooms to be clean and while on the smaller side they were great for a couple of people with a terrace to relax in the evenings and watch the stunning sunsets. While they don’t serve food it is close walking distance to few restaurants and even Uluwatu temple. If you are interested in staying here click the link and see if they have availability for your dates.

Ubud
Next, head inland to Ubud, a town known for its lush green landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Stay in Ubud for 2-3 nights and make sure to visit the breathtaking Tegalalang Rice Terraces, where you can take stunning photos and enjoy a peaceful walk through the terraced fields I recommend to go early as it gets quite busy . Another must-visit in Ubud is the Kanto Lampo Waterfall, a hidden gem of a waterfall tucked away in a lush jungle setting. For a more secluded waterfall experience, make your way to the stunning Tibumana Waterfall.

When in Ubud, take some time to explore the town itself. Wander through the bustling markets, where you can find unique handicrafts, clothing, and traditional Balinese souvenirs. Don’t forget to visit Pura Taman Kemuda Saraswati, a beautiful temple known for its lotus pond and traditional dance performances.
Where to stay
There are 1000’s of places to stay both in and around ubud with views of the city and rolling rice fields making choosing where to stay a challenge. Junjungan Suite offers private rooms from simple double bedrooms to a four bedroom villa. I stayed for three nights and enjoyed the rice field views, multiple pools and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few days while still being less than a 10 minute drive to the centre. Junjungan Suite can be booked here.

Gili Islands
After exploring the inland beauty of Bali, it’s time to head to the Gili Islands. Hop on a boat and take the short trip to these paradise-like islands. Spend four nights here to fully enjoy the unique atmosphere and activities each island has to offer. Take leisurely bike rides around the islands, stopping to admire the breathtaking beaches and crystal-clear waters. Don’t forget to snorkel in search of turtles and visit the infamous underwater sculpture installations. To see more about the Gili Islands and which one is best for you click here.

Where To Stay
While I loved visiting all of the Gili islands and it would have been nice to stay on either Air or Meno I chose to stay on Gili Trawangan and I recommend all first timers to do the same, due to the accessibility to other islands as well as the various food options and of course lots of beautiful beaches. I stayed at Giliranta a beautiful little courtyard surrounded by half a dozen large huts overlooking the beautiful serene pool. With a great location only a 5 minute walk to the beach I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely stay again.

Lombok
If you find yourself with some spare time and a sense of adventure, why not consider adding a trip to Lombok to your itinerary? This Indonesian island is located just east of Bali and offers a unique and picturesque landscape that is sure to leave you awe-struck. One of the must-visit places in Lombok is Bukit Selong, a stunning hill with breathtaking panoramic views of the island. Standing atop this hill, you can soak in the beauty of the surrounding greenery and expansive blue waters.

Additionally, make sure to make a stop at Sendang Gile Waterfall, a massive and astounding natural wonder that will leave you speechless. The sheer power and grandeur of this waterfall is truly amazing, and you can even feel the refreshing spray from a distance of 500 meters away. Whether you choose to stay for just one or two nights, the experience of visiting Lombok, especially Bukit Selong and Sendang Gile Waterfall, is certainly worth the detour.
Where To Stay
Deciding where to stay on Lombok depends massively on what you want to do while there. I was only there for a few days so I decided I would be most comfortable staying near the north as it is easy to get to the ferry port, close to the beach and I was able to easily visit the more inland spots I wished to visit on a day trip. Cozy Cottages Lombok offers five cottage like huts overlooking a beautiful and relaxing pool. There rooms are clean and spacious for a few nights and they offer there own little restaurant with an outdoor seating area.

Nusa Penida
From the Gili Islands or Lombok if you have chosen to add it in to your itinerary, make your way to Nusa Penida, an island just southeast of Bali. Although you’ll only spend one night here, it’s worth a visit for its stunning natural landscapes. Relax upon arrival and ensure you have a pre-booked driver ready to take you to the must-see spots the next day. Diamond Beach, Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, and Angel’s Billabong are all places you don’t want to miss. Capture the beauty of these unique landscapes and make sure to ask your driver to drop you off at the boat to return to the mainland. Where To Stay
While a lot of people do just visit Nusa Penida for the day as I said above I do recommend staying a night on the island. Getting around on the island isn’t easy so when looking for somewhere to stay you need to look for a place that has a good restaurant either on site or within walking distance. I stayed at a little inn that had three hut style rooms Temeling Jungle Inn. They offer large rooms at an affordable price with outdoor terraces and a family run restaurant on site that offers great local and foreign food at an affordable budget. Look here to see if they are available for your stay or if something else suits your needs better.

Canggu
Finally, end your Bali adventure in Canggu, a surfers’ paradise along the southwestern coast of the island. Stay for 3-4 nights and make sure to visit Tanah Lot, a temple perched on a rock formation in the ocean, creating a magnificent view during sunset. Explore the local markets and indulge in the tantalizing array of food options. Copenhagen is a recommended spot for breakfast, while Penny Lane is perfect for dinner, serving generous portions at a reasonable price. Take some time to relax at the beach or by the pool, soaking up the last rays of the sun.
Where To Stay
Canggu accommodations are endless there are hostels, hotels, airbnbs and villas deciding where to stay can be a long and tedious task. I decided to stay in a little hotel just a short scooter ride away from the centre of town offering about a dozen rooms overlooking a pool and rice field. While this hotel doesn’t have a restaurant it is just a short walk away from various hotels and has a large indoor-outdoor kitchen for guests to use meaning if you are looking for somewhere affordable to stay long term this could be a great option.

With this two-week itinerary, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the best of Bali, from its mesmerizing beaches and iconic temples to its lush landscapes and vibrant culture. Bali truly offers something for everyone, and you’ll leave this magical island with memories that will last a lifetime.
