Singapore is a city that blends modern marvels with lush greenery, world-class attractions with rich cultural heritage. Whether you’re a foodie, nature lover, or thrill-seeker, the Lion City has something for everyone. Here’s how to make the most of your 3 days in Singapore, with everything you need to know—from iconic sights to local eats—and how to get around this compact but vibrant city.

Explore the Heart of the City:

Start your first day by diving into the heart of Singapore’s history and culture, with a mix of iconic landmarks and natural beauty.

Morning: Fort Canning Park

Begin your day with a peaceful stroll through Fort Canning Park. Located in the city center, this park is a historical site and a great place to relax in nature. It’s a green oasis with lush foliage, old colonial buildings, and even remnants of Singapore’s past, including the Battle Box (a former WWII underground command center). The elevated views of the city are a lovely bonus.

Afternoon: Gardens by the Bay

Next head over to Gardens by the Bay, a futuristic garden oasis located next to Marina Bay Sands. Explore the massive Flower Dome, the Cloud Forest, and the Supertree Grove. If you’re up for a challenge, take a walk on the OCBC Skyway, a 22-meter-high suspended bridge that offers fantastic views of the Supertrees and the whole garden. I found this walk daunting as the walkway moves when you near the middle. Just remember to keep walking and admire the views of the gardens and the city surrounding it. As night falls, the Supertrees light up in a colourful, magical display. This light show can be watched from the skybridge or down on solid ground.

Evening: Marina Bay Sands and Spectra light show

End your day at Marina Bay Sands, an architectural wonder that’s hard to miss. The infinity pool atop the hotel is one of the most famous views in the world, but even if you’re not staying there, you can still explore the luxurious shopping mall, or head up to the observation deck for panoramic views of the city.

In the evening, don’t miss Spectra, a stunning water and light show held at the Event Plaza by the bay. The 15-minute show combines lasers, fountains, and projections set to music—an unforgettable spectacle. There are multiple show times for the spectra lightshow aswell as the gardens by the bay super trees lightshow. So check the times before hand to see if you want to do them on the same day or different.

Day 2: Nature, Culture and more Iconic sights

Morning: Singapore Botanical Gardens

Start your second day at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage site that spans 82 hectares of lush greenery. Walk through the National Orchid Garden, which houses over 1,000 species of orchids, or simply enjoy the peaceful lakes and wide, open lawns. The garden is free to enter (though there’s an entry fee for the Orchid Garden).

Midday: Lunch at Hawker Centre

No trip to Singapore is complete without tasting the local cuisine at a hawker center. Head to Maxwell Food Centre or Lau Pa Sat, both famous for their wide array of local dishes. Don’t miss the iconic Hainanese chicken ricelaksa (spicy noodle soup), or char kway teow (stir-fried noodles).

Afternoon: Sentosa Island

Next, take the train from the city to Sentosa Island, Singapore’s resort playground. The best part? Transport on the island is free, so you can hop on and off the Sentosa Express or walk around easily.

Your first stop should be the Fort Siloso Skywalk, where you can walk across a free skybridge that offers amazing views of the island and the coastline. Continue to Fort Siloso, a historic military site with fascinating exhibits and tunnels that date back to World War II.

Evening:Palawan Beach and Southernmost point of Continental Europe

Spend the late afternoon lounging at Palawan Beach, one of the island’s most serene spots. Here, you can cross the pedestrian bridge to reach the southernmost point of continental Asia, marked by a scenic viewpoint. The beach has plenty of cafes, and you can relax by the water or enjoy a swim. There is also an inflatable assault course that you can try if you so desire.

Day 3: A Blend of History, Culture and Shopping

Morning: Chinatown and little India

Start your final day by immersing yourself in the rich cultural districts of Chinatown and Little India. In Chinatown, visit the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple, and shop for souvenirs at the Chinatown Street Market. Be sure to stop by Maxwell Food Centre if you want more local dishes, or try a chilli crab or satay stall.

In Little India, take in the colorful streets, vibrant temples, and bustling markets. Visit the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, one of the oldest Hindu temples in Singapore, or stroll through the vibrant Tekka Market for spices, fresh produce, and textiles

Midday: Merlion Park

Next, head over to Merlion Park, the home of Singapore’s iconic statue of the Merlion. The half-lion, half-fish creature spouts water into Marina Bay, and it’s one of the most photographed landmarks in the city. It’s the perfect spot for a quick selfie with views of Marina Bay Sands and the skyline in the background.

Afternoon:Orchard Road Shopping

If you love shopping, spend the afternoon along Orchard Road, Singapore’s premier shopping street. Here you’ll find everything from high-end international boutiques to local designer stores. Stop by ION Orchard for a mix of luxury brands and local fashion, or explore Ngee Ann City and Paragon for even more retail therapy.

Evening: Clarke Quay for Dinner and Drinks

Wrap up your Singapore adventure with a visit to Clarke Quay, a bustling riverside quay known for its vibrant nightlife. Choose from a variety of restaurants offering local and international cuisines, and then head to one of the many bars for a drink by the water. The area is beautiful at night, with the colourful lights reflecting off the river.

There are also various river cruises offered around the city departing from Clarke Quay offering you the chance to see the city from the water at both day and night if this interests you check out the link below.

How to Get Around Public Transport and Grab

Getting around Singapore is incredibly easy and efficient. The public transport system is not only affordable but also clean, reliable, and safe. The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) is the backbone of the city’s transport, connecting key areas like Marina Bay, Orchard Road, Chinatown, and Sentosa Island. Fares are very affordable, and stations are well-signposted in both English and Mandarin.

In addition to the MRT, Singapore’s bus network is extensive and also reasonably priced. To make things even easier, use the EZ-Link card (or a Singapore Tourist Pass) for seamless access to both buses and trains.

For those preferring door-to-door convenience, Grab, the Southeast Asian ride-hailing app, is widely used in Singapore. It’s an easy, affordable, and safe way to get around, especially for areas not directly connected by public transport. You can also use it for food delivery or ride-sharing options.
